About This Course:

As technology makes the far reaches of the globe accessible to more and more people, there is an increased need to expand our knowledge and understanding of the world and, more importantly, its people. This course will expose the student to a variety of cultures, many quite different from our own, and hopefully give each student a greater appreciation, understanding, and acceptance of other peoples through the study of their geography, history, culture and traditions, government, and economy. This course is considered HONORS level; therefore students enrolled in this class are willing to take on the challenges that will not be given in the regular Global Studies offering. Students who are not interested in the increased workload (challenge) should consider a different course.

About Mr. Elsen

This is my 16th year of teaching and my 9th at Craig. Prior to coming here, I taught at Parker H.S. for 5 years and Fort Atkinson H.S. for 2 years. Before I got into teaching, I was a digital cartographer (map maker) at Rand McNally. My undergraduate and graduate degrees are from UW-Whitewater and I graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School. I have two children; Anna (10) and Lauren (8). I enjoy unicorns, rainbows, ice cream, and long walks on the beach. Eventually, when I'm finished with teaching, I'd like to be a sorcerer or possibly join the circus.
